Kuku Group Ranch stretches from the Chyulu Hills to the foothills of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (19,342 feet). The altitude ranges from 3,000 to 7,000 feet, so the land includes a number of different habitats. Biodiversity is extremely rich.
Because it is a wildlife corridor between Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks, this land must be protected. According to 30 years of research by Dr. David Western, former Kenya Wildlife Service director, up to 90% of the population of the plains game from Amboseli National Park uses Kuku Group Ranch for part of the year.
In order to prove to the Maasai landlords that wildlife can be economical for them, we created an ecotourism enterprise, jointly with the Maasai community, in order to achieve the goals of protecting the wildlife, the wilderness, and the culture of the Maasai.
The ecolodge is owned by the Maasai community and managed by its founders, Luca Belpietro and Antonella Bonomi, for the benefit of local communities. Campi ya Kanzi's goal is to make protecting wilderness with thriving wildlife economically productive for the Maasai landlords. Here you will experience true ethical and solidarity tourism.
