Campi ya Kanzi means "Camp of the Hidden Treasure" in Kiswahili. For you, it means "safari in style" at a luxury tented safari camp. The camp lies within a 400-square-mile area of Maasai private land in Southern Kenya, dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro, just 35 miles away.
The camp offers room for 16 guests in 6 luxury tented cottages and 2 suites. Luca and Antonella, the founders, will host you, assisted by the local Maasai.
Unique is rather an overused (and often abused) term, but
that's what Campi ya Kanzi truly is. Unlike other lodges,
it is not in a National Park (with crowds of visitors) or in a
small, privately owned concession.
Instead, it is a community eco-lodge, offering an authentic
experience of an iconic Africa, rich in wildlife, wilderness
and culture.
The diversity of the landscape, and consequently of the
wildlife, is tremendous. You can spend a week here, enjoying and discovering
something different everyday, combining traditional game drives
with unforgettable game walks, while being deeply immersed in
the Maasai culture.
Campi ya Kanzi contributes significantly to the preservation
of those assets it shares with its guests: Maasai wilderness,
cultural and wildlife heritages. At the same time, it offers an
unmatchable, unique experience.
In the words of Edward Norton, the President of Maasai Wilderness Conservation Fund:
"The contribution that Campi ya Kanzi makes to Maasai
Wilderness Conservation Trust is a shining example of the way
the romance and adventure of tourism in the last, best wild
places can actually help preserve those places for the
future."
